Cakes Devine is based in Uvongo on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. A real family business co-owned by Hendrik van Tonder and his mother Maree, both of whom have a real passion for baking.

After completing his studies (with highest honours) for professional cookery and kitchen management at the International Hotel School in Sandton, Johannesburg, Hendrik worked in top hotels, including the Hilton, before relocating to the South Coast, KwaZulu-Natal about 6 years ago. Employed as a bakery manager for a large company he found himself doing more administrative work rather than baking, his real passion. This was the turning point for Hendrik and it was then he decided to start his own business specialising in confectionery.

Cakes Devine was started in 2005, coming with the dream and vision of delectable cakes and fine confectionery, came long hours and hard work. This family run business has now achieved its dreams and established itself as a place that caters for all its customer’s needs. Creating catering platters, novelty birthday cakes and designer chocolate wedding cakes, Cakes Devine has exceeded all expectations and proved that excellent service and exceptional quality is really at the heart of it all. The business expanded quickly and a new partner, Kobus Viljoen joined Cakes Devine in 2007.

Cakes Devine creations are in many fridges in coffee shops up and down the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, so go “get your piece of cake in life”.
